I like how increasingly boutique your board is getting.
Would love to know what you think about the Ashdown octave, and how you're getting on with the Beta

Yes, but it’s only noticeable if running higher gain, or cranked/attenuated. Typically occurs when moving a slider away from the mid notch - even if lowering the slider.

I’ve been down the mod rabbit hole - including the Dexter quiet mod. The hiss can be improved, but it’s still there.

The EQ-200 however is dead quiet! Surprisingly so actually. Similar footprint too - especially when you factor space for the side jacks.
Good info, thanks. The Boss EQ-200 is much dearer but I'd go for that to avoid the hiss.

That’s high praise coming from you. Your clips I’ve seen on Facebook have great tone!
Thank you :)

I think it depends on what kinda stuff you like to play and how you play it. The noise can be noticeable when playing higher gain stuff, but from my experience I don't hear much (or usually any) added noise when playing higher gain stuff while using the ge7. When i first got it i found it to be noisier with more gain, but then i pushed the level slider to max and certain freqs pretty high up. After I played around with the settings of the ge7 for a while, combined with the other pedal's and amp settings I was able to dial in what i was after with no real extra noise/hiss.

I had a little play around earlier today using my slightly mid-boosted ge7 settings while engaging the ts9 and then the big muff, and I didn't have any compromising extra noise. Note that I usually play on my amp's clean channel as i've always used pedals to largely shape my tone. I then turned on my amp's dirty channel while leaving all the pedal settings as they were, and there was quite a bit of noise, particularly with the tubescreamer. To be fair to the ge7 though that was a lot of farking gain

To summarise, i'm sure there are less noisy eqs around, and the noise of the ge7 is dependant on your application.

The best low-gain OD for use with a Strat and a clean amp that I've heard.

And unusable with humbuckers

My new pedalboard.
I don't expect to change this unless I came across a Fairfield Circuitry compressor or an interesting fuzz mini pedal. :)

Pedal chain: Korg Tuner -> Compressor Mini -> Tumnus -> Clusterfuzz -> Phase 95 -> Analog Delay -> Ditto.
I usually have compressor, tumnus and delay always on.

Pedalboard: Rockboard Duo 2.1
Powersupply: 1 Spot Pro CS 6

I'm guessing the ES5 does midi as well? That'll be a game changer for the Volante...

Yep! I'm not a MIDI user though. Still nice to have for the future.

It does Midi, most people with ES/8's run their midi pedals outside the loops and control them with midi.

I used to control my Katana with it!
