Schmidt Array build incoming

Just received a second hand Schmidt Array from a friend, not a board I would ever consider buying due to the cost, but wow this thing is so beautifully deigned and built.

It also came with a Gigrig G2 switcher so I am building a whole new rig around these two and figured I would document the process for anyone interested.

Yea the custom colours come out really nice. There is a beautiful wood stained one I would prob go for if I ordered new.

Congrats, I was super impressed with the build quality and functionality of the board, it's completely excessive but had a huge joy factor for me, and smaller footprint than the massive PedalTrain I had, I look forward to your glamour shots.

Yep totally understand, takes quite a lot of planning to get these rigs how you want them.

I was going to wait until I could take some better pics because night time pics suck, but I’ll keep the thread moving.

Second hand SA525XDM with lid and soft case. Came all the way from Singapore (door to door in less than 48 hours!). Has a few nicks here and there but generally in good condition.

The quality of these boards is second to none. There is so much attention to detail and quality parts and material used. I would wager the guy is an ex cabinet maker based on the spring loaded hinges, ball lock bars etc.

I was worried this was going to be big and heavy, but ironically loaded up it is lighter and smaller than a loaded pedal train 2 in a flight case (obv not as safe to throw on a plane than a flight case).

The only questionable item on the board is the aluminium top. Mine has a fair bit of oxidisation that I can’t get off. They have just switched to powdercoated aluminium for this reason, so gonna have a look at whether I can do that locally (was going to cost $500nz just to get a new aluminium top from them…)

I’m still waiting on cabling so just playing around with layout and doing prep work. I think I’m happy on the top deck but still work to do under.

That looks awesome, so many options on those pedals as well, can you type what effects are on with the morningstar screen, that or a photographic memory could be handy with all the options that bad boy is packing.

Yea the Morningstar screen can give quite a bit of info. That and a label maker for the g2 will be my friend…

Ok so to complicate things I just picked up an RJM Mastermind PBC10 in a trade. Will shoot it out with the G2 and one of them will stay…

Been doing quite a bit of research on these, only because I'm still in the throes of doing something similar, they certainly look nice and solid.
Aluminium will always 'tarnish' as that is its natural state. It either needs to be anodised, powder coated or lacquered.

Yea I am probably going take it to a powdercoater, should cost under $100 based on previous experience.

They are very very impressive boards, albeit very very expensive.
