Hello & HNP Day

Post by Jonny »

Hi All,

Just thought I'd introduce myself with this:

Image

JDM Tonemaster Fuzz/Boost. Actually got it a couple of weeks ago, so right off the bat I'm looking like a liar...

I'd been looking for a ToneBender MKII clone of some type and came across this online. The audio samples sounded interesting, the price was good, and it's all handmade with Germanium gubbins. The bias control makes it very tweakable, which gave me confidence that I should be able to find a tone that works for me. It also has a Hi-Lo gain switch which is a nice touch. Added bonus is the Rangemaster clone with added EQ circuit which is fantastic.

The fuzz itself is really good, although I haven't found the exact settings I'm after just yet (struggling to integrate a new amp into a previously awesome set-up), but the treble boost is amazing. It brings so much life and sparkle to my sound that I just never want to turn the damn thing off, and I think it's become one of those 'not negotiables' when it comes to me plugging into an amp.

The pedal is made in Germany, and Joe at JDM provides free shipping, although for some reason the German post was not delivering to NZ, so I eventually stumped up the extra to use DHL. Overall pretty damn happy.

Hey and welcome
Our heroes who art in heaven, Hendrix, Bloomfield, King et al be thy names. Thy inspiration come. Thy will be played loudly, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our guitars & amps and forgive us our purchases, as we forgive those who have gone digital.

Welcome! I have a mk2 clone on my board and really like it.
I didn’t originally like it that much but once I took it to band practice and played it, it sounded just right in the whole mix so it’s stayed on my board compared to all the others I’ve tried.

Thanks for the welcome, all.

I've been lurking for a bit, and this seems like a really decent community. I haven't been involved in a guitar forum for almost 15 years I'd say, and I certainly have not been purchasing gear for about as long. Until I moved to NZ...

Is there something in the water here that promotes gas?

I'll try and make a few more posts of bits of kit that may or may not be interesting to some of you.

Cheers!

Everything here promotes GAS.

Not going to win me any friends, but I was born in Australia. Fortunately my family is English - East London, so hopefully that tempers the disgust a little.

Having said that, I don't think East London heritage will help me, either
