What happened to the 2014 you had?
When faced with quality, I recognise it every time.

I didn't realise that you had kept the Tokai :-)

+10000000000000 for the top wrap!

I know it's just me, but the Tokai has darker rosewood, have you oiled the Gibson's yet?

Just with some lemon oil when I put the new strings on, darkened it a little at the time but it's naturally a pretty light rosewood

So I've had the Gibson for a few weeks now. Hate to say it but IMHO the Tokai takes the honours

Don't get me wrong, this Standard is a damn fine guitar and is a great example of what a good LP should be. It's resonant, has a good weight to it and sounds great through whatever amp it's running into but the Tokai just has something 'more' that I haven't yet been able to put my finger on. Pretty stoked that I have been lucky enough to have these two find their way to me 8)

You don't know till you try it! bonus is it's easier to sell the Gibson than the Tokai for what you've spent on the Tokai

True... hopefully in the future I have no desire or need to sell either!
