Yep, it was my 40th birthday gig and I knew I'd be too tanked to lift a hefty tube amp up on that stack.
Laziness FTW.

Is that Backbeat or do you actually use a full stack?
Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.

The former. I only ever used a full stack for a gig at the Kings Arms in 2004 or thereabouts, Mark the sound guy gave me a bit of a look but let me set it up anyway. It was novelty as had an angled quad but scored a matching straight one in an amp purchase and decided to try it once for a laugh. It looked hilarious compared to the other guitarists Fender Deville combo.

Interestingly, Backbeat is apparently closing its doors in July.

Think of all the Strats with rusty strings hitting the market!

Quick shot sent to me from down near the front at the Dave Dobbyn gig at The Factory in Hamilton on Friday.
I’ve been thinking about using their version of my name in the future...
Planned to take a photo of DD’s rig but ran out of time unfortunately. However it was very simple. His old 76’ Strat into a double Hotcake, and a TC Electronic Flashback X4, split out to two Fender Deluxe Reverbs by a Radial ABY. That was it from memory...
And his. Amps. Were. Loud!

Sweet shot. DD's rig must have changed a lot, last time I saw him he had 2x Fender Pro Juniors that had been tweaked up by Ryan.

Yeah, that was the rig I was expecting actually! Not sure if these were just hired for the night or his now-usual rig. Super minimalist setup by them which I thought worked great. No one changed guitars at all, and Dave didn’t play any acoustic either! I didn’t even see backup guitars lying around
