One of the great songwriters. Rest in Peace.
His Austin Sessions album is an excellent one with a bunch of his great songs. Totally recommend.

"See him wasted on the sidewalk in his jacket and his jeans
Wearing yesterday's misfortunes like a smile.
Once he had a future full of money love and dreams
Which he spent like they were going out of style."
Athlete, academic, soldier, helicopter pilot and handy with a turn of phrase.
He made a mark on my youth.

Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.

“The music business is a cruel and shallow money trench - a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free and good men die like dogs. There's also a negative side."
