Marcus King

Post by dylan »

Marcus King. Funny looking effer. Springsteen reportedly relieved at no longer being the future of RnR

IMO the best "reaction videos" on FB are people first seeing Mr King, and then hearing him sing...

The last time a i heard a new voice this good was Terence Trent Darby in the 80's :)

Oh and he also plays mean guitar and writes really good songs, and his songs written in last few years are way better than his early material.

This is the meta introduction to MK - "Rita is gone" performed live in a Van !?!?!
( First time i saw this vid i was so overwhelmed by feelings of personal inadequacy that i took to bed for an hour. )

Some of them are actually not bad, I was a massive doubter too as it seems kinda lame on the surface....

Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.

:) , im currently shifting from practicing while watching TV to practicing while watching youtube, so im trying out the various popular themes. Have to say that that young people sure got it right - YT is a zillion times better than TV. The only unboxing's i have every watched are on Troglys show, and ive probably watched 10 reaction vids in my time, none all the way through. It is pretty funny watching peoples jaws drop when Markus starts singing tho. (Jinjer reaction videos also funny )

And awesome to hear the old band getting together again :)

Yeah this. I mean, it's not like I watch many or often, but occasionally it's fun to watch someone freak out about something in a good way. Beats the almost wall to wall negativity you find everywhere else.

It kinda reminds me of Steely Dan but with Mick Hucknell's cousin doing the vocals! I like it :)

Like that gogglebox TV show, watching people watching TV.

First time I heard about it was one of those "you have to watch this, its the funniest thing ever" conversations with an Aussie mate. Watch people watching TV? fuck off, stupidest thing I've ever heard. (it was 2015, things were less stupid back then)

Turns out when they made an NZ version I couldnt look away.

I liked that !
Tube amp and guitar tones straight from 1958… amazing how believable the sounds were back then, even without the modellers...

He was due to play at the Powerstation, but Covid19 got in the way of the fun. I'd been looking forward to it for ages too. They're now targeting April next year to play there. Great singer, fantastic guitarist, and seems like a down to earth dude too.

I like him, can't remember the name of it but I thought his second album was great. Carolina something or other, kinda like The Eagles on steroids. Fantastic guitarist and a breath of fresh air to what I usually listen to
