Steven Wilson is a huge fan of Mark Hollis and Talk Talk, I hadn't heard of them before he raved about them on his The Album Years podcast, they were certainly pioneers of the genre in my opinion too.

Discovered these guys after someone posted a video of their pedalboards on Reddit, was wondering if the music was as tasty, I was not disappointed!
