Re: Post-Rock Artists
For me, "post-rock" started with Talk Talk, particularly their album "Spirit of Eden" (1988), and then "Laughing Stock"(1991). Incredible albums. Bark Psychosis was another pioneer in the early 90s. And Slowdive's "Pygmalion" (1995) is a post-rock masterpiece. I was really into the American post-rock/drone scene in the mid-late 90s and hung out with some of the bands. Bowery Electric, Grimble Grumble (their first LP and early EPs are still among my favorites), Windy & Carl, Transient Waves, etc. Great music, great times.

Re: Post-Rock Artists
These 3 records still sound fresher than most post rock bands that came afterwards. During the late 00's there were too many bands that wanted to sound like Mono or Explosions in the Sky and made me lose interest in post rock in general.sunburster wrote:For me, "post-rock" started with Talk Talk, particularly their album "Spirit of Eden" (1988), and then "Laughing Stock"(1991). Re: Post-Rock Artists
Bandcamp is completely flooded with copy/paste post-rock artists, unfortunately.godgrinder wrote:These 3 records still sound fresher than most post rock bands that came afterwards. Re: Post-Rock Artists
The thread resurgence got me back on Youtube. I forgot how much I LOVED Starflyer 59 in the mid-late 90s.
