Songs where Bass takes the lead

Post by Olderama »

Hi all

so...

Ive just bought a bass for my youngest from Artist
its a left handed 3/4 jobbie and tbh im bloody surprised at the quality ect
and now im thinking of getting one for myself not to sure what yet 4 string 5 string ect ect

Anyway

My hearing has suddenly started to pull out the bassline from songs and im starting to get an idea of how complex some basslines are and also how awesome they sound that they deserve to be just the song and nothing else.

so heres one to get the ball rolling

:mental:

My youngest (12 and a half) is learning Bass at school at the moment, I got him a really cool 3/4 Squire Jaguar Bass which is also really impressive.

Anyway, he's been learning this one the last couple of weeks and seems to have a strong enough groove that he's finally learning the whole song now.

Ooh, that's awesome. Never thought of that one.

I'll show that one to Jack later and see what he makes of it.

Rancid ... and out come the wolves - whole album is a masterclass in bass playing. Have a listen to Journey to the end of east bay for the bass really taking the lead, and Maxwell Murders for a ridiculous bass solo.
