I think it is going to get a flatwound restring to LaBellas. A bit worried about the extra tension as this Bass is a bit fragile in the neck pocket/join

That said it’s been a great gigging Bass, lightweight, lots of options, looks cool.

Looks cool - understatement of the year!
I prefer Precision over Jazz mostly

I’ve never really got the hang of the bridge pick up. But this is a nice, resonant, lightweight gigging instrument

I like 'em both.

I've been playing P basses and Stingray mostly lately, but I've been wanting to playing the Jazzes a bit more too. :-)

Do they actually play differently or is it just the toan?

The toan is definitely different. More bite and mids with the Jazz and also a much slimmer neck.

But P Bass necks also vary a lot. The neck on a 70's P is very different indeed from a 60's one. 60's P necks are generally wider and shallower. 70's P bass necks are deeper and a bit narrower. :-)

A Jazz bass is like a holiday house. Great for a few days. Fresh, exciting, sexy. But after a while you miss the comfortable homeliness of a P-bass.

They play differently too, but the P-Bass is the sound of Rock - one with flats and one with rounds, every sound you could ever want ;)

A Stingray neck is more like a Precision than a Jazz

The narrower nut on a Jazz doesn’t suit everyone

Precision has lots of low mids.

It can take some time to decide where to pluck on a Stingray.

The Jazz body might be both the sleekest and most comfortable

So the jazz is the mistress and the p is the wife, gotcha!

The sensible option is to purchase 2 or 3 of each.

YMMV

A Precision might sound better through a Valve Amp than SS where a Jazz is the other way around

Precision - Flats - Optical Compressor- Valve Amp - Big Speakers is a win

Both Jazz and Stingray can go a touch of Overdrive

A Jazz is superior to a Precision when using time effects.

There’s been amazing slap lines on all 3 but I would probably go 1. Stingray (Johnson) 2. Jazz (Graham) 3. Precision (Washington and Rainey)

A Precision is “the look” for Punk Rock

I’ve got the one piece baseball bat maple neck P 76
I haven’t played a pre CBS but I couldn’t feel any difference on a ‘65
There’s a whole thing about neck shape codes but TMI for me

I'm hoping that skinny legs are good for playing bass. Is there hope for me yet? 🤣
Humour aside this is a good analogy. Groove is what I would like to achieve - any tips from the old hands?
