Re: Anyone like bass guitars?
I'm kinda hoping with the bass lessons that it will also improve my guitar playing, any thoughts? the focus on feeling the groove and working on timing will definitely cross over...

Soon you should also be able to name any note on the fretboard on the fly

Re: Anyone like bass guitars?
I find that the notes on the low E & A strings define the chord positions on a guitar when playing mostly barre chords. Very useful when I play my double neck. I also only play bass with a pick.

I reckon there are a couple of things bass lessons will accelerate in your guitar playing. The first is timing and rhythm, and the second is listening. So many guitarists I have played with only listen to themselves - bass is much more about listening, anticipating and choosing your notes and when to play them. IMO anyway.

Re: Anyone like bass guitars?
This is certainly the take homes I got from listening to Victor Wooten speak about learning the bass, and the Scotts Bass Lessons are really into that whole groove and timing thing, I've always had really good timing on guitar, it always felt natural, but zero groovehercules wrote: ↑Thu Aug 29, 2024 11:45 am I reckon there are a couple of things bass lessons will accelerate in your guitar playing. Starting to hobble about, so getting some time in my studio. I have my dominant wrist in a cast, but can still finger the bass strings - really getting into some funk!

Possibly one for the "in the post" thread, as I don't have it in my hands yet. But I'm breaking the rules because this is quite special to me and I've been waiting over a year for it. Folks, I present my custom build Marleaux Consat, on its way from Germany very soon.

After waiting over a year it hardly seems real, but it's finally coming.

Super exciting, what are the specs of the build? wood, pickups, hardware etc? looks like they have their own bridge?Tricksta wrote: ↑Thu Dec 05, 2024 10:10 amCheers mate.jeremyb wrote: ↑Thu Dec 05, 2024 9:29 amWow, that looks incredible, congrats!!Tricksta wrote: ↑Thu Dec 05, 2024 7:53 am Possibly one for the "in the post" thread, as I don't have it in my hands yet. Re: Anyone like bass guitars?
Its walnut burl front and back (and headstock) with a flamed maple core and thru-neck. Ebony fretboard with a custom inlay*. Pickups are Haussel with ebony covers. The bridge is bespoke, made for Marleaux by ETS. Machines and straplocks are Schaller. Active/Passive electronics are Marleaux's own BC3.
*Hard to see the custom inlay on the pics I already posted, so here it is. Its a cat, obviously.
