Thanks Bishop Tamaki, but I can imagine jumping around on stage with a boat anchor bass will give me a hernia at my age, we're not all 37 like you!!Bg wrote: ↑Sat Feb 04, 2023 5:40 pmor you could just man up, don't you do judo or something? Sweet baby jesus.jeremyb wrote: ↑Sat Feb 04, 2023 5:12 pm In unrelated news, my Artist 5 string is an absolute boat anchor, I weighed it yesterday for the first time and it came in at 5.6Kg... 12.3lbs... ideally I'd like to scrub a couple of kilos off that, I think my only option is to make a new body for it... I could swimming pool route out under the pickguard but its probably not going to make a helluva difference... ergh...
The other thing is... what is out there in the super lightweight 5 string realm, I imagine the Ibanez stuff will be light, I quite like the look of the Sire Marcus Miller stuff too... budget maybe upto $1k?
Anyone like bass guitars?

Hot evening for jamming but great fun.
I think I’m going to abandon roundwounds all together. TG returned a bass he’s been setting up etc. It plays well. He’s a good man

Re: Anyone like bass guitars?
Middle of the night bass conundrum question #126... with a fretless instrument you have to place your finger on the string where the fret would be right? for those who play fretless bass, do you find yourself when playing a fretted instrument doing the same thing? i.e. finger right on top of the fret?
Thinking more, switching between scale lengths has gotta mess up the muscle memory too, need to dig myself out of this thought rabbit hole

Re: Anyone like bass guitars?
I didn't find it was much of an adjustment. Like playing two different neck profiles, muscle memory kicks in and puts the fingers where they need to be. Fretless you use your ears a lot to make fine adjustments, too.jeremyb wrote: ↑Sat Feb 18, 2023 9:02 am Middle of the night bass conundrum question #126... with a fretless instrument you have to place your finger on the string where the fret would be right? for those who play fretless bass, do you find yourself when playing a fretted instrument doing the same thing? i.e. finger right on top of the fret?
