Went well
Having a buffered pedal at the end of the chain seems to work
I will buy new leads in January which hopefully will confirm the present set up. Still thinking I want to split the board into the loop ( chorus flange) and through the front ( OD, Fuzz, Filter, Comp)

Tried a students Mooer pedal today
Clearly based on a Big Muff
Reading up on this company seems to lead to counterfeit or lack of recognition of Intellectual/Creative property rights
One to ponder for me at least

Yeah they made a lot of money off making clones of existing pedals, now they're producing their own stuff, some cool gear but its no Katana!

Overdrive both before and after Compression is quite a thing.
Not decided on if I want to try out the Aguilar preamp Nev has on TM.
I need to go back to work

Bought a used Crews Maniac Sound SVD-001. Sounds huge. Over the top overdrive that Iām not sure I need.

Effect of a different kind... my bass low E sounded a bit flabby, dull and no punch. The other 3 strings sounded much better.
So I took the low E off, boiled it for 5 minutes with a drop of detergent. The colour of the boiled water was quite revealing
All the grime and sweat of the last decade(s) must have leaked out of the string.
Cleaned and dried with cloth and some sunlight, then put it on.
I thought this boiling was an old wives tale, but omg, what a difference. No more flab, punchy sound with lots of treble coming through. The 3 strings that I did not boil sound dull now in comparison.
Might have to buy some new strings to get it even better perhaps?

Boiled strings sound as good as new strings, in my opinion. They just don't stay that way. You might get ten or fifteen hours of new strings sounding great, but boiled strings will start sounding dull again after a couple of hours.
Do it the afternoon of a gig and you're sorted, though.

My 30 year love/hate relationship with Chorus Pedals continues
It's a fine line between glorious and cheese

I don't feel so bad about my own issues now
