Re: Bass effects!
So it looks like my home/studio/practice rig is coming together
70s Hofner
74 p bass
Epi elitist thunder bird
Ashdown LB30 + RM112t cab (thanks Smallface)
All the years aI played bass (before I turned to guitars) i never ever used one single bass effect.
Wondering now whats you all would choose for the rig I have just mentioned if you were to say run one or two pedals. Not looking for any wild effects, just things that will improve over all tone to the ear in this setting.
Reverb/ compression / delays/ HPF/ Limter etc etc
Or do you recommend just sticking with my old ways.??

Re: Bass effects!
Compressor and a preamp to sculpt the toan would be about all I can suggest, I like having a preamp cause I can go direct into my interface with it and use Torpedo wall of sounds power amp emulation and cab emulation
Supposedly, We Were Nightmares.

Re: Bass effects!
Compression and their different types can bring much joy.
You might want a drive pedal of some description

Compressor I could see
Any love for hpf ?
I’m hoping the little bastard (amp not my illegitimate love child) will bring enough drive without dirty work

It was the mention of Flange wasn't it...StrummersOfThunder wrote: ↑Tue Jan 23, 2024 6:04 pmOh BG , you sure know how to make a gal feel good about herself blush
But yeah, I attempt to be Peter Hook at times so thats what I need. To be fair I don't need any of it, an amp with built in compression is all I used to use playing live.

Re: Bass effects!
HPF is a bit niche imo - I’d only bother if there’s a huge need, and you’d be trimming below 30hz-60hz to prevent amp/pa from trying to reproduce those freqs. Way more fun to be had before that sort of boring considerationStrummersOfThunder wrote: ↑Tue Jan 23, 2024 6:03 pm Compressor I could see

Re: Bass effects!
For me, I use a compressor (Diamond or Empress), a drive of some sort (a Rogue, a DP3X, a Pork Loin, or something), an MXR Bass Octave, a Fuzz going into a preamp of some description (Tonehammer, HX Stomp etc). Preamp is really because I never play with an amp and use in-ears.

Well I most likely won’t be playing bass live
home jamming and recording and unsolicited demos to subject you folks to
Probably start with a compressor and take it from there

Re: Bass effects!
I have the DemonFX versions of the Bass Cali76 & Darkglass B7K both great recreations if you're not wanting to sink crazy money into pedals for something with not enough strings

Re: Bass effects!
After 30+ years of playing, up until about 18 months ago I didn't really have much interest in pedals. I don't what sparked me off, but look at it now.StrummersOfThunder wrote: ↑Tue Jan 23, 2024 2:58 pm So it looks like my home/studio/practice rig is coming together

I would say a compressor and preamp are the most important ones to have. They're the only ones that are always on. Next favourite is the octaver, then the Q-tron. The Pog is a fairly recent addition so I'm still getting to grips with it. The only other thing I want to add is a Darkglass Alpha Omicron, but I'm not paying brand new prices for one. For the record, that entire board cost around $1800 in total to put together. I love a bargain, me.

Re: Bass effects!
Got one of these on the way!
Its a clone of this (unsurprisingly) with a much better demo.
