Or I should just learn to play keyboard bass synth like a proper musician...
Had the C4 - it’s awesome BUT prepare for just hours of twiddling software knobs. I found I was mainly just using it for octave down.

Got one of these incoming.

Would like to see if it can replace everything in one pedal.

Right, quick review on the Microbass III

Clean preamp - is WOW. So much flexibility, and you can get some gorgeous deep tones easily. Parametric mids is such a godsend.

Comp seems like it’s post clean eq and is a good, solid transparent one knob. Doesn’t impart character but tightens things up. Still like my Diamond Comp clone as a characterful comp for a “bouncy” feel first in the chain.

Tuner tracks well, does the B string.

Drive is quite good! Again, parametric mids is genius. I a/b’d it against my Vintage Microtubes and found a setting on the MB3 that gets about 95% of the way to my favourite setting on the VMT, hilarious to look at ALL the mids being notched out at 300hz, and it’s still not quite enough hackery to get it bang on. Not sad though because I like the extra mids. The catch is getting the balance between clean and drive nailed.

So the standout feature is the clean pre - it made every bass sound gorgeous. Drive needs a bit of familiarising but it’s pretty darn good. Tuner and comp are solid.

The Diamond comp clone, polytune, and VMT are all slightly better at their individual jobs but I would happily flog them and go with the EBS as a one stop shop. Standout is the clean tone, it’s SO GOOD

Nah, I built one using this PCB

It’s very, very close.

If you can’t get a Boss OC-2 then the OC-5 is better than the OC-3?

General consensus?

I’d say so. The OC5 can replicate the OC2 pretty well, but also does a much higher quality octave than the 3, which is sort of “the average bits of both”.
