Had a bit of a wang on the DemonFX Microtubes A7K today, quite enjoying it, was running it into my interface and then into the Torpedo Wall of Sound plugin with a 8x10 ampeg cab and the poweramp simulation turned on, sounds killer!
Wash me clean again before I pull myself beneath the waves

The bass whammy gets great reviews for guitar as well, was really tempted in the rubber monkey sale when they were $350 ish. The equiv. guitar whammy is silly price...
So, is that low alcohol or no alcohol at all? mmmm, no alcohol, do you want to try it? Noooooooooo.

Can confirm, this rig is pretty much perfect - just need a DD3/5 and a solid EQ (hopefully a Source Audio EQ2) to finish it off. Best bass sound this side of an SVT I've ever heard. Have to get a pic of the amp (Markbass LM Vintage) and pedal setup soon...and maybe a recording.
This has to cover quite a lot of sonic ground - vintage-influenced soul with a flatwound-equipped P bass, clean 80s shit, all the way up to driving Tool songs. I highly rate the Vintage Microtubes for the dirt. Bass Whammy does everything it needs to do, and sounds glorious with chorus.
Ideally in a bi-amping situation, I'll split the Bassrig (clean-ish) and X Ultra (dirty-ish) to be pre and post effects, and take DIs + outputs from each. In terms of gain stacking, the BassRig has a touch of hair, the X Ultra has only the very top frequencies distorting, and the full-range (but blended) drive comes from the Vintage Microtubes. I find very careful stacking and clean blending to be the only way to get a drive sound I like.
