NVFPBD!!!!

Post by StrummersOfThunder »

New vintage fender p bass day!!!!

Have been very excited about this delivery. Recently returned to my original sin, playing bass in covers bands, and have been aching to upgrade to a real p bass for many a year.
Managed to find this one and haggle for tax free with free shipping from Japan. Got a great deal.

It's a 1975 p bass in super sexual sunburst verging on tabacco burst in some lights.

It's all original except for a wire between the tone and volume pots, the pots and jack themselves are original.

I was worried about playability given its age and that I bought it sight unseen. But it is unbelievable. Beautiful slim vintage neck and action to die for ...I mean one of the slickest bass necks I've played. Oozes motown grooves effortlessly.
The case is original and beaten to hell, but that's cool.
I love the crazing on the head stock.
The finish feels nice and thin. And overall the bass is not too heavy. Lighter than my Greco p for sure.
Will be trying it at practice tomorrow night to see if the vintage pups hold up or if I'll need to slip in something with a little more pep.
100% happy and super stoked. I can say unreservly that this one truely is a keeper.

Thanks. Aargh can not put it down. We do some good bass rich number, and are playing as a three piece so plenty of opportunity to let her sing her pretty p bass notes. Can wait to poud out the bass groove in the instrumental section to 'all right now' by Free.

Cool.
I'm starting to itch for a bass rig again. Had a really nice bass set up a few years ago but never really did much with it.

I saw a nice old yellow bass on FB a while back but couldn't find it again. I don't think it was fender but it would have done me. I'll pick something up cheap at some stage.
