I'm using a Roland GOMIXER PRO to combine the backing track off my computer and a direct out from the Katana to both go directly into my iphone as I'm shooting the video.

You could play the youtube track on your phone into the aux in of the katana and use the katana direct to reaper, altho' not sure if the aux gets mixed in with the guitar via usb?!?? Matt? Ed?

All I intend to do is convert the video audio to a wav and put it in as a separate track in reaper, then record via the katana, but then video... hmmm... maybe I'll just mime and mix the track with video?!?!? errrrrr

Your approach might be the go, I could just flag the video part and upload to Soundcloud, or do a YouTube with just a picture rather than video.

I'm actually not sure....though i THINK that it does.

*edit* actually, maybe the Aux In DOESN'T go out the USB....

However, you could still take the same appraoch (backing track in the KTN Aux IN) but output analog audio (Katana and Aux IN mixed) out of the Katana PHONES/REC jack into an audio interface.

Mmmm was trying to find him an option that didn't require an interface, heres a thought...

Looks like you can mix in desktop audio for the backing track, could work, and mic or line in on interface / katana usb... need to think it through more!

I ran my Kat into my interface and then used my phone to record the video and Reaper to record the audio..then used imovie to sync up audio and video.

I started the audio track 20 secs before "my" solo bit came in and hit harmonics on all strings with an exaggerated hand movement so I could visual "hear" exactly where to sync um up
By the way, Reaper can sync up video and audio too

my computer is old so won't recognise my phone so it doesn't work as a camera and I have no other dedicated cameras that will work ... but yes reaper does do that

hamo, I don't think anyone will begrudge you just playing along with the backing track up loud on your computer with your guitar amp going as well!

I do pretty much the same thing. Guitar into Helix into Reaper, record video with phone, smack the strings when I start recording to make a spike in the audio to help when it comes time to sync things up.

Sometimes I'll forget to smack the strings which makes matching the audio and video a bit trickier.
