Just released an EP.

Post by SimonHirst »

Here's the EP I've recorded over the last few months. I was actually working on a full album and had four songs I thought were good, but didn't seem to fit with the album songs, so I put the album on pause and recorded them as an EP.
The drums were tracked at The Porch in Hamilton, and the rest was recorded in my little studio I call Grange. It was mixed by a great friend of mine and mastered at Masterdisk in New York via their very decent indie rates.
If you have any questions about the recording or guitar related sounds just fire away. There was a lot of learning for me during the process, I'm by no means an expert engineer, but I'm pretty happy with the end result.

Haha, of course, sorry not enough sleep....
Yeah, that's about where I tend to reside in the musical scheme of things. Far below Black Sabbath, but slightly above Iona.
Cheers for having a listen.

Nice work man! Second song was my fave. Liked the outro to the first one also. Always impressed by people with proper artistic skills!

Is this you singing?

It's got a real Neil Finn vibe all over.
This is great, well done.

Yes, that's me. Cheers man, that's quite a compliment! I grew up surrounded by the Finns music from my parents, and quite likely wouldn't have started down the music path without it, so I think it's probably pretty in-grained in my musical pysche.
Thanks Tony

Cheers Bender and Oldie! Great of you guys to take the time to have a quick listen. I've got a few photos of the recording sessions and what gear was used, and how, so I'll try and post them tomorrow in case anyone is interested.

Sounds really great - not just the songwriting, but the production is top notch too. Awesome.
