I feel for you; It's a horror scenario. I've got nothing better than the 800 grit. If it was me, the sight of a shiny fretboard might be more than I could bear.
Best of luck...

If it really bugs you mask off the body and rag the fretboard with lacquer thinners, it's still soft & curing. Caveat though, my experience with paint gone wrong things and trying to fix is it can escalate badly.
Assuming clear is 1K, if it is 2K then might be locked in.

Well, fuck, that's a bit of clearcoat.
Do you know what he's sprayed it with?

I'm guessing it'll fall off all by it's self given time.

Kitchen broom would be my guess.
No. That's not good at all.
Is that showing a perfectly crap application or the fretboard surface profile? Because if that's the profile, it might be easier to peel the fretboard and replace.

There’s a lot to take in here

The ideal scenario is removing the old frets, sanding down that fingerboard and trying to correct some of those chunks missing from the binding, and then refret with new fretwire, and job done, with added bonus of extra playability.

Yeah it will be either Amerthane or Caprithane. Both are 2k.
I would love to pull the frets and do it all properly but this has to go by Christmas.
It's all a big mess really. I'm so fucked
