Best place to buy cables/connectors?

Post by MattAnt »

Looking to redo my whole board in diy soldered cables, any thoughts on the best place to buy connectors and cable and stuff?

Thanks!

I bought my mogami cable from rubber monkey, and jacks from Amazon.

Got all my connectors from bestronics (bpta). Bought the cable here from livesound.

+1 for BTPA.

They do the small square pancake jacks, extra short inline jacks, and have super low capacitance cable that’s cheap, and sounds killer.

Nice thanks! Second question, any right angle jacks that work with dense switchers? Specifically the g2?

I know straight jacks would be better but if I ditch the switcher I would def want right angle jacks after that so if there is one that can do both then that’s awesome

Straight is better - Squareplugs might work though. Otherwise I think it'd be too tight.

I've got these too. They can be a tiny bit wide to fit side-by-side with some pedals if the outputs are too close together, e.g. Volante. Otherwise feel very solid and have been perfectly reliable.

At the moment I've narrowed it down to just ordering some new Lava Tightrope, prob about $250nz all up, and ordering a mix of SPS and SP400 with their low cap cable for about $550nz. Shipping from btpa is $75us! Kitting out in Evidence SIS would be around $1000....

I'm leaning towards the tightrope, I've only had one or two go dodgy on me in about 7 years, they seem pretty good. It annoys me that I would have to order half straight plugs (for the back of the G2) and half square plugs (for the pedals).

I ordered from bestronics (bpta) and used straight plugs into my G3 and angles into most of the pedals I used Evidence Mono Rail I got free with the G3 but BPTA also have great pedalboard cable that is very reasonable on price so I would get that if I had to pay again. There is another company in the states that do small pancake stuff but the straight plugs are longer than Square Plugs.

Appreciate the offer.

I'm not to keen to have different types on the board, just complicates things a little bit. I do like the look of those Emerson/Disaster/G&H ones (all the same), but I would irrationally want to replace the lot...

Not sure if it's of any interest, but I just got an email from GoodWood Audio, they are now selling parts for DIY cables:

Nothing to see here.
