MIDI for Boneheads

Post by IMOCD »

Ok, sticking with @rickenbackerkid's bonehead theme; I'm going to dip my toes into midi (have a dmc3 controller on its way from Conway). Ultimately I'm looking for some easier way of managing presets on my Volante and Ventris, and having the expression wheel is a bonus.

I'm trying to get to grips with the terminology and it's sinking in slowly. However, reading through the Volante instructions it states that the midi needs to go in through the expression pedal input via a TRS. Huh, when did this happen? It has midi in and out via din sockets, so why is Strymon stating to use the Exp/TRS input? Shirley it's not to get me to part with $80 for a 'special' lead .......or is it?

Any Volante owners able to shed some light? Do you use the TRS or DIN?

Edit: Hmmm.....posted in wrong section sorry. Feel free to move.

The Exp jack is just another option for connection - is the way I read it.
Tube amp and guitar tones straight from 1958… amazing how believable the sounds were back then, even without the modellers...

The ventris is the same, has TRS as well which you can use for midi but if everything has din use that, cause the source audio stuff needs a special hub if you want to go DIN -> TRS.
