Gibson 3 way selector

Post by IMOCD »

Heyho. So, I'm putting new pups into my LP and noticed that the 3 way switch has 4 wires at the switch (naturally), but 5 wires at the other end! No continuity with other 4 wires and it seems it is part of the foil sheathing but terminates before it gets to the switch. Hmm....what gives?
The annoying thing is I really don't recollect whether it was soldered to anything prior to dismantling during lockdown (note to self, take bloody photos!!) or whether it was just taped off.

The screen is normally soldered to the ground connection, only one end needs to be connected.
Tube amp and guitar tones straight from 1958… amazing how believable the sounds were back then, even without the modellers...
