Re: Leaving the boost

I've kinda been on the same roundabout in the past. From an 'everything must be boosted' to no boosts..
These days I seem to be playing only amps that dont need a boost, which is a shame in a way

Re: Engl Amp?

Visually they are similar but the powerball is a different circuit / voiced different.
The powerball was one of the amps of the era, but doesnt get much hype nowadays.

Fun fact, all the Engl amps are based on the topology of the mesa mark IIc+. Obviously completely revoiced...

Re: Engl Amp?

I have a powerball, I like it.
The pcbs in it are fine to deal with, they're just installed component side down which means pulling the whole thing up to do anything, but that's only 20 minutes work. Still easier than a mesa haha

Marshall grill cloth

I'm looking at refinishing the front of one or two heads. Does anyone have or know where to locally source Marshall grill cloth? Or somewhere easily ordered online?

I'm looking for the faded brown stuff, I think it's called basketweave of cane?
Will consider anything in that vein though!

Re: Effects Loop - Series or Parallel

It's just that I have this JHS Little Black Box Attenuator and specifically mentioned to use only on a series effects loop. Thanks to all! Will that do something that the master volumes won’t do? I guess if it’s tricky to set the clean and lead channels relative to each other and you want a single ...

Re: Jansen IA-33

You can put negative feedback in anywhere really, it's plausible that someone might have even just selected a high value resistor and decided to linearaise the power stage by ac coupling the plate to the grid using the grid input cap that was already there, and be damed that it was dc coupled to the...

Re: Jansen IA-33

My best guess is R5 will be 2k, it doesnt make much sense if it were 200R and fully bypassed by the 10u at the same time... The resistor value won't matter much for that reason either however. The rest is has some oddities. Are you sure that's drawn accuratly? Essentially R3 is feedback to the grid,...
