Re: JCM900 4102 opinions?
I've seen lots of 900s in use live, but it's usually a plug a pedal board into the fx return setup. Cant recall ever seeing someone use the preamp?

Re: JCM900 4102 opinions?
Come round to my place if you want to hear it for yourself. Play the 900 against a 800, 2000, Jose' and friedman and you'll be pretty clear on where it stands in the marshall tone lineup

Re: JCM900 4102 opinions?
I have a 50W head and can frankly say it's one of the worst tones in my stable. yrmv
If it fits your budget, maybe look at running a BEOD pedal into the power amp or something. Would be a huge improvement

Arent these pedals just tube screamers with an active bass eq stage on the output?
I guess it wouldnt be the first time someone has asked a ridiculous price for a tube screamer

Re: Rockit Super Lead 130 (Mk6) - Lead Channel
I've always been curious about these Rockit's given the visual similarities to the Mark series. Do the Rhythm tone controls affect the lead channel tone? The lead cct looks like it goes through that TL071, then into the two 7025 stages. That part of the circuit is all pretty standard stuff at least ...

Re: Mesa Boogie Mk VII
Capacitors have an operational life of 20 years or less in a hot environment. In a tube amp there's only a couple and they're big and easy to replace, but any a digital circuit environment they're just not designed to last that long Anyway, I like my Mark V, has the best cleans imo. For the lead cha...

That's the basis of the mesa 5-band eq pedal and what they put in the mark amps. Certainly very musical

Re: Recommend me a reverse guitar pedal.
Avalanche run does a good job of it and has tap tempo.
Or a Line 6 M5/7/9/13 pedal will do it well too

I've seen a Rockit cab that looked just like that back in the day. Cant remember what it sounded like though.

Re: Adding a gain stage
Agree with the pedal comments.
It doesnt look to be built in a way that would allow high gain imo, the component layout and wiring would have to be substantially revised to avoid whistling/oscillations.

Re: NMAD SV20H
The 820R value is thicker/more bass/less treble shelving than the 2k7 but yeah I believe the 820R/680nf was featured in the early Marshalls with the split cathode arrangement before they went to the more common 2.7k/680nf arrangement. The 820R/680nf rolls off the lower frequencies from 285Hz downwa...

The cathode arrangement on the bright channel, if what I read was true, is a 820R resistor bypassed by a 680nf cap. This also will thin things out a bit more than the 2.7k/680nf arrangement.

Re: TCE Fluorescence mod question
Possibly it could be modded to change the output volume but you'll need to know what the circuit is first. Gutshot?

Re: Explorer / Strat hybrid
Not really, the CG of the guitar moves - see the LTD snakebite for example of one approach to figuring this out by shaping the back edge to move the button toward the bridge. Explorers are dicks with where the weight is centered. They'll dive or tip if you get it wrong

Re: Explorer / Strat hybrid
I'm no physicist but wouldn't a very small change to the angle of the rear bout create a lot more leverage than adding mass to the upper horn? https://i.imgur.com/yZcC6OA.png Hmmmm, I guess I could try something like that. thanks for the suggestion! The issue with that is the rear...
