murky wrote: Mon Feb 12, 2024 2:37 pm Before you start farking around, put a tiny dab of Vaseline in each nut slot (under the string).

There's other nut lubes around (graphite, guitar grease, etc), but I've found vas to be far superior.

Don't use silicon/teflon based lubes.
I have some "nut sauce" stashed somewhere.

Re: Les Paul and Tele tuning stability tips?

Any point of contact can cause slippage, on the LP that's bridge saddles, nut slots, and to a lesser extent the tuners themmselves. Its worth it on a older guitar to remove any burrs that exist in the slots at either end. Fold over a piece of 400 grit sandpaper and rub it in the slots until theres ...

Re: Les Paul and Tele tuning stability tips?

I've never had an issue with tuning stability arising from the bridge (other than Strat tremolo systems) or tuners. Every time, it's been the nut either not being cut correctly for the string gauge, or the string having worn its own little path into the nut. Yeah, I'm thinking my LP is too worn and...

Les Paul and Tele tuning stability tips?

Lately I've been mucking around with a LP and a tele. It's been a while since I've used either one and I am used to enjoying the stability of a modern guitar. 1. What tips do you have for improving LP tuning stability? Or is it just a thing you accept? The guitar has Grover tuners (non-locking) and ...

Re: Has anyone tried graphtech ratio tuners?

It seems that greenfield - who makes high end acoustics for the alternate tuning players I like, use gotoh 21:1 ratio tuners.

They seem to be cheaper than the graphtechs and because everything else I use is gotoh, I might stick with them.

Re: What a lot of us have been wanting from Kemper..

Have you compared it to the Tone X? I’ve currently got an HX Stomp and UA Ruby 63 but looking for the closest thing to a real amp without dragging an amp out with a load box every time I play. I haven't tried the Tone X yet unfortunately. Are you unhappy with the HX? I still need to do more test dr...

Re: What a lot of us have been wanting from Kemper..

What’s the verdict on the KEMPER Player? Who’s got one in NZ? Have been considering buying another amp I don’t need, thinking I might be better to look into the KEMPER Player. Looks like it’s just over 1k landed? It'd be around 1350 landed (customs fees). I got one. So far I'm really enjoying it! A...

Re: How to connect FM3 to Audio interface, DAW

You may be able to direct monitor without cubase on (if you can do it using your interfaces digital mixer) but you may hear an unwanted doubling effect while you record, so I turn that off.

Re: How to connect FM3 to Audio interface, DAW

Guitar > FM3 > Komplete Audio 6 > Monitors Connect the FM3 into the 1/4 inch inputs on the back and reserve the mic inputs for your mic / other stuff. Then create a patch within your FM3 - the main part of the patch is normal, going to OUT1. That will be your main signal. Create a split cable off I...

Has anyone tried graphtech ratio tuners?

Hi guys, When I play acoustic I use lots of different tunings. I'm pretty sure my tuners have a ratio of 16:1, and the guitar is very fiddly to get in the right tuning. Everything else - nut etc is good. 1. Will 18:1 tuners give a noticeable difference? 2. Has anyone tried graphtech "ratio"...

Re: Guitar food groups and must try guitar sounds

I've had an idea recently about a filtertron bridge / P90 necked doublecut with a bigsby style trem, I think theres a lot there to enjoy... It ain't a double cut and the neck pickup isn't a P90 (though it is a big wide, flat coil) but this combo of pickups and trem is a lot of fun!IMG_20240202_1239...
