Re: Offset chat

Nice one - good to see that you managed to get it completed! Do you remember that telecaster body you did the binding routes for me? That'll be finished in a couple of days. Wait till you see that one! Shit, that's going back a bit now!! Look forward to seeing it - is it sparkle?? Glad to see that ...

Re: What's on your work bench?

An ebony fretboard can be very brittle... I took the greatest care while removing the frets but it still was a dog's breakfast. Took several hours to repair the fretboard with ebony sanding dust and superglue followed by sanding. Worth the effort though :D Here some before and after photos: https:/...

Re: What's on your work bench?

That looks good despite the crappy photo. Did you use Briwax? Put a good photo up when you have a moment please. Also, did you make the puriri fretboard blank thinner or used it as it came? Thanks, It's really nice timber to use. If you need the history.... it was cut from a large branch from a ver...

No, I just used some fretboard oil on it. It was enough to just darken a little and bring out the gra...

Re: What's on your work bench?

Almost done... need to fill the tiny slot openings left under the tang... See last photo for detail. I think you had a solution for that? Please do tell :D Looking sweet! I've done dust from the board and both wood glue and CA. Even CA by itself will dry pretty dark, but does mean that the frets wi...

Number 26 is on hold...I have to take the finish back to wood and redo it. In the meantime Ive started number 27>
I really like your idea for an f-hole. How thick is the drop top?

pffft, where's the challenge with future fret removal with that!
True, remiss of me. I should use epoxy and layer it right across the edge of the board.
Could consider it like clear binding.

Re: What's on your work bench?

Ah, missed your post. That is exactly what I was thinking. Started fretting with 1.2mm high crowns and 2.4mm wide. Edit - these ones: https://www.amplifiedparts.com/products/fret-wire-18-nickel-silver-2-ft-lengths-medium-sizes Yep, leave the wood there. My 335 has deep and well spread divots...affe...
