Re: Seeing out 2020
BTW Deposit in Japan is non-refundable. Unless the rental legislation has changed since I was there you must have come across some hard-arse landlords. I got the majority of my deposits back from the two rentals I had in Nagano and Tokyo. Apart from that and the shitty tax hit, it sounds like you a...

Re: Seeing out 2020
As per everyone, 2020 has been an odd year. Didn't lose my job, and really enjoyed working from home, but then my company was sold. Went through a job security scare, made it through the other end, but the culture of the new company is very different. Jury is still out as to how wonderful it all fee...

Re: New Bigsby Day
Nice. Gotta love a wiggle stick! Man, if you ever decide to part with that beauty....... Thanks for the interest. I've done a bit of research over the last few weeks and found out a few things about this guitar. Straight off the bat, I knew it didn't have a mahogany body as there's a decent ...

Re: Any guitar setup tips?
Pianos are inherently out of tune across the instrument (tempered tuning). If it's good enough for them, it's good enough for me.

New Bigsby Day
I'd been toying with the idea for some time, but never really got around to it. I hummed and haaaed on a Bigsby here on the board, missed out, and then Danny piped up saying he had one. Long and the short is, it's on my Greco now. Thanks Danny: https://scontent.fakl1-3.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t1.15752-9/132...

Re: Almost my birthday why not get a NAD
Haven't tried an AC10 yet, but quite curious to try. I've played mostly Vox amps for years now and find the AC15 to really fit me well - while I've sold a few amps off, I still have a Heritage handwired which I love, and a CC1 which I bought in Tokyo in 2005 and keep for partly sentimental reasons. ...

Re: Almost my birthday why not get a NAD
Nice, the AC10 is a great amp. We have one at my shop and it makes every guitar sound awesome. That rich harmonic content, I do seem to keep coming back to Vox amps... They certainly have their own vibe going on. There's a tb35 for sale on TM currently. Would love a schwang on that. 6l6 bottles fro...

Yeah, I'm voting no pick guard.ReidySetGo wrote: ↑Wed Dec 16, 2020 8:40 pm What do you guys think? Pickguard or no pickguard? I'm leaning towards no pickguard myself.

Re: 1930's Epiphone Apollo
It plays even better than I hoped. I put 13-56 phosphors on it to help mellow it out more. Has a very rawlings type tone with heaps of natural reverb. You can really feel the old dry wood shaking with certain notes. I will make a recording tonight to share. Can't wait to hear it! Looks and I imagin...

Re: Looking for a valve bass head
Fair enough. I gigged bass for about 12 years. I had a few tube amps for a few years, and I agree they sound fantastic. I had issues with reliability though, from Marshall and others. Also, they're just so bloody expensive for anything with sufficient volume. After a while I went to solid state and...
