Neck Shim Question

Hey guys. I've just been looking at my Frankenstrat and I've noticed the neck is not sitting flat in the neck pocket. The high E side is sitting higher than than the low E side. So my neck is on a bit of an angle. Is that angle meant to be there? Should i add a shim to the neck to try and balance it...

Connect the wires up to a voltmeter and then tap the pickup with a screw driver and see if theres any current.
Well.. im not sure if thats the expert way, but thats what i do. It seems to work.
