Re: The Acoustic Guitar Thread

I find these days I reach for an acoustic more than anything. It's a bit soul destroying when you realise your fretting arm/hand/fingers have even less strength and stamina than you first thought.

Re: The Acoustic Guitar Thread

There's a badly abused acoustic sitting in my office these days. There's a good 10 to 15 mm height difference in the top between the lower bout (just behind the bridge) and the upper bout (at the neck joint). The poor thing sits in full sunlight by the window. I used to move it away all the time but...

Didn't you sell him at least half of them? again?
Nah, only one of these is ex me, and I've only sold 2 guitars to Molly, ever. Puts me firmly at the low end of the suppliers. And makes me wonder what the hell is wrong with my guitars? :?
Molly just has not looked into acoustics yet ;)

Re: The Acoustic Guitar Thread

That's very true, "low" is a very relative term indeed. This is going nowhere :D

Re: The Acoustic Guitar Thread

I'm the last person to say this but that's not a guitar, it's a heirloom. Congrats. Thanks... and aye, I agree wholeheartedly. While this is at the low end of Larrivée it is still a thing of beauty and pleasure. It is my type of guitar... nothing flashy but an absolute pleasure to play. Gear wise, ...

Re: The Acoustic Guitar Thread

Of all my unjustifiable gear this one takes the cake. I thoroughly enjoy acoustics, hence this one taking that spot at the top. Larrivée D-03 Walnut. It's supposedly spruce top with walnut back and sides. However, my biggest surprise about this guitar is how much it does not weigh! Seriously, the bo...

Re: The Acoustic Guitar Thread

Unfortunately not, that was the only drawback about this one... Still, considering it's made in Canada it's a great price. How you liking it? Loving it! It's such a pleasure to play. Something about a small, yet surprisingly resonant, guitar that makes me want to pick it up and play. I enjoy it for...

Re: The Acoustic Guitar Thread

Played a 12 fret mahogany in Dunedin recently. Stuck in my mind a bit... Hah! The acoustic game is a slippery slope to some kind of hell/heaven mix, but a 12-fret is a must I reckon. I played one and 3 months later I bought one. Just couldn't get it out of my head. Mahogany 12-fret you say? I playe...

Re: Show Us Your Guitar

Speaking of PRS... I can't remember who but someone suggested this brilliant boredom prevention measure. Only have one or two electric guitars out at a time, and rotate the rest in/out of storage. Cloudy cool morning here, got up early, made a cuppa and pulled out my PRS. New strings, cleaned the fr...

Re: The Acoustic Guitar Thread

Speaking of acoustic, I need a case for my parlour. Googling around has not brought any up except for a Seagull one. Any suggestions please?

Re: The Acoustic Guitar Thread

I've been very content with it until recently spending an extended period with Oleg's Taylor 714. When I finally picked up the Tama again, I was crushed. :wtf: That man seems to have a habit of doing that. Well, maybe not a habit... he's done it to you, and also me. I was reasonably content with my...

Re: The Acoustic Guitar Thread

I'm standing on the edge, staring down the deep, dark, potentially bottomless pit that is the acoustic quest. At the moment I just have the Art & Lutherie Roadhouse parlour and Guild GAD 30R OM. Loving both of them for different reasons. https://i.imgur.com/4Gh1dAV.jpg Next... dreadnought... I i...

Re: Horror Stories

My Grandad had a pre-WW2 Dobro that my grandmother gave away in the seventies because it was old. Kept the tenor banjos he had though. I knew a woman who let her kids play in the street with a 1910 Gibson B-series mandolin. She had no idea what it was worth. (I did try to explain) I'm sure Tarantin...

Re: Horror Stories

Yes please with the good vibes. Maybe it's perspective that helps out. I've had plenty of things go wrong etc...but the process of getting them sorted has always delivered some kind of silver lining. Life is too short to dwell on shyte. That's the kind of thing I was hoping to see in this thread. I...
