Tight. I like that you've refurbed it and made it look clean, but without that loss of mojo.
Thanks man, that's why I left the grille cloth as is. It tells a story.

Re: Ticks Some Boxes?

I had no idea he was still actively making music. Good for him though. Looks they stick a jazzmaster fretboard on a strat... Which is probably exactly what they did.

Re: Marshall 4x12 refurbishment.

Yeah according to their specs they're bigger.

Did the screw holes line up for you? The livesound ones have the added benefit of actually being in NZ which is a nice bonus.

livesound sell handles in the correct size, very solid and reasonably priced
Not for 1960 cabs they don't. Their's are too large.

Re: Marshall 4x12 refurbishment.

Great work, looks proper tidy now and set for another few decades of use Thanks man. With more care I would have taken off all the hardware but Marshall use rivets instead of screws or nails so they're pretty tricky to get back on. Eventually I'd like to replace all the corners (there's 3 missing a...

Re: Marshall 4x12 refurbishment.

Very cool. I've also restored one of these recently, it's a great cab. I really like the old 75 watt speakers, they sound pretty damn good for sparkly strat cleans or anything heavily dirty. Yeah the vented speakers are pretty special. They don't get harsh at the top end like V30s do, no matter wha...

A cab with built in effects. A solution without a problem maybe?

Re: Cable soldering advice

DO you mean you need a wiring diagram or help holding the things in place etc while you work?

Did you bring this in from Thomann? If so, how were the shipping and import charges? Sorry to hijack your post.

Nice job! Looks the biz... Do you think the duratex will be as durable as tolex?
More so. You can drop pa cabs down many stairs and the paint will survive. And if you do scratch it off you can fix it with a paint brush and a fresh application. I'm done with tolex.

Re: Marshall 4x12 refurbishment.

Ah Duratex presumably. I've been looking at that with a view to de tolexing and painting my Redplate which has dirty cream coloured finish on it. It's not in rough shape just a f'ugly colour and that stuff looks the ticket. I wondered if it was just for speaker cabs though and might not like the he...

Marshall 4x12 refurbishment.

This is a 1985 Marshall 1960a. It's from the JCM800 series. It looked like this: https://i.imgur.com/w8eC8QX.jpg ruined tolex, water damaged sides, a crumbly back panel, a cab full of dings and scrapes and a big gouge in the top by the skid pan covered in layers of duct tape going back decades judgi...
