Cheers for that and thanks for the advice. Interestingly the "Fender RI Vibroverbs" are running lower voltages than the "original" ones and mine is vintage spec!

Re: Forums have been slow, how about a 'In the mail' thread?

In a Vibroverb built by moi (Reverb driver and PI) - the incumbent's (actually the reverb driver I think) are noisy/poppy/crackly - almost a little microphonic. I've read that modern 12AT7 tubes when used as the reverb driver in Fender amps are prone to this as they are running very high voltages (a...

Re: Forums have been slow, how about a 'In the mail' thread?

Purchased these two NOS Philips 12AT7s thru Ebay on 1st of April. They just arrived today (23 June) some 12 weeks later, posted from Sweden! I gave up on them over a week ago and applied for a refund which has been accepted but still hasn't shown up! Hope they fix my issues!

Re: Strat comparisons

So John Mayer has some interesting wiring going on in the silver sky and the pickups are voiced with scooped mids, like his earlier pickups, the big dippers, fascinating! Must be something to do with the combination of amps he uses that makes it all sounds so good... I'm increasingly of the opinion...

Re: WTB: Genuine Pre-CBS Strat

Very interesting as I've never had the privilege of playing a vintage Strat. You hear stories like "so and so gave this strat to that other guitar guy"... I wouldn't give one away that I Ioved so presumably the former owner's just didn't bond? I've owned or have had for a short time at least 50 Stra...

Re: WTB: Genuine Pre-CBS Strat

I really wonder, are they all good or are a few good just like modern Strats?

Re: Help! - Is this cab 'buzz' normal?

A theory.... the Laney is 2x12 so it's moving more air. Perhaps something in the room is vibrating with the Laney, prove it by shifting it to a different room. P.S. The Vox sounds great! Also, is amp on top of cab? Thanks Mike - I had read about something else in the room buzzing but it definitely ...

Re: Wanted: Strymon Flint

How does it compare to the real thing i wonder? :) Like an actual flint? Probably sounds better but harder to light fires with. I've never tried either of them  Didgical verses analogue+valves+spring-reverb-tank... dunno if it can be compared! But they apparently sound pretty good, includes a ...

Re: Suitable 12" speaker for DR

I've tried many speakers and the one I constantly like is the Eminence Legend 1258. Very similar apparently to the common Fender Gold Label speaker (which is an Eminence) but with a higher wattage rating (70W instead of 50W). They are well priced and available from Live Sound in Auckland. And those ...
