Re: Steve Lukather deconstructed

To put that solo into context, it's the outro "jam" solo. It's meant to be a little loose / widdly widdly / wanky. There is a far more succinct and tasteful solo done earlier in the song. It's not amazing, but well done and it incorporates some techniques that I directly stole from this so...

Yeah +1 on the durability of the Freedom Cables from Ryan. Feels like you could tow a truck with them.

Re: Tech21 Flyrig 5

Like Matt, I think a solo boost would make it far more giggable. If they replaced the delay with a solo boost and perhaps added an effects loop (so I can chuck a delay /reverb in if I really wanted) and then a DI output for those who wanted it, I think it'd be far more appealing. As a gig backup - n...

Re: Edwards Vs Gibson

Not being funny or anything, but new Gibsons have a real nice smell. Kind of like lip balm. I'm not sure if they do that on purpose or if I'm just sniffing pleasant smelling but brain damaging adhesives. Either way, it's part of the Gibson experience. I've only really played cheap LP copies and Gibs...

Re: Christchurch Gearfest - 17th May 2014 (1pm)

Awesome day - so much great gear in one room. It makes me wonder though...where are the newbies? In my pre-good gear days, I'd have jizzed in my pants at the opportunity to play any of the guitars / amps in that room today! I don't think it has the same effect when you have to put down your o...

Re: Christchurch Gearfest May 2014

Funnily enough, I had a spare few hours this afternoon so I shot down to the storage unit, whipped my head out and had a good play for the first time in ages. The more I played, the more intense it got. People were walking past looking at me...with a look I'd almost describe as "interest and an...

Re: Christchurch Gearfest May 2014

Whenever I go to the Rockshop, this strange dude is all like "Hey!!!" and I'm like "WTF? How does this random guy know my name?".

Then he rips off his clothes, covering his modesty with only a floyd-equipped guitar and I finally recognise that it is NZRS-Dave.
