Re: Anyone like bass guitars?

BG, I used to use ONLY 1 plucking finger per string as a practice tool. It taught me a lot. Try it sometime - feels weird at first, then become natural.

Re: Annapurna

I bought an Annapurna jacket in Nepal. Lovely warm snow jacket. As for your pedal - I like it!

Quick string review acoustic.

Since I have a munted fretting hand, string selection is rather important to me. For me, easy playing wins the day. I also do not like trebly/twangy strings, which is why I only use flats on my electrics. With my new Tak I got today, it was supplied ex factory with D'addario EXP16 (12-53). These are...

Re: Slimline acoustic-electric NGD

NGD: My lovely brand new Takamine TSP138C N arrived today. Really loving the thinline. Excellent build quality. Made in Japan. Fits perfectly, light as, sounds great. 42mm nut, which is important to me for ease of playing with my munted hand. I've also bought a little wireless set so I can wander up...

Re: Slimline acoustic-electric

Cheers, BG. However I have sold a Strat today so have some money to put towards a new gat. When I sell the Maton, I'll have enough $$ to look at a Takamine TSP138CN.

Re: Slimline acoustic-electric

A friend in UK has suggested an Ibanez AEWC32 as the right guitar. I can't find anyone in NZ selling them. Do you know anything about this model?

Re: Slimline acoustic-electric

There’s a Yamaha APX 600 on trade me at the moment, and the CSF1 sounded pretty nice too. Thanks for that, yoggo. It looks interesting and the reviews are quite good. I like that it is suitable for electric players to move to easier. I think Music Works are the Yamaha agents and there is one in New...

Many thanks guys. I'll check those all out. Of course, gotta sell the Maton first. LOL

Slimline acoustic-electric NGD

Sometime ago I bought a Maton EM225C cos I wanted an acoustic guitar. Really lovely tone and all, but man, I just can't play the damn thing well due to short stature, very fat belly and only having three fretting fingers (argument with a circular saw - the saw won). The guitar is just too damn big a...

Re: How good are your ears.....?

I watched the first part and thought: I can't hear the slightest difference between them, so let it run on expecting to be told my ears were total crap, only to be told they were the same clip played twice. I gave up after that.

Re: Any guitar setup tips?

Every time I get a new guitar (I normally buy brand new only) one of the first things I do is sand the back of the neck with some P1200 wet and dry, 'cos I loathe sticky guitar necks and slippery feels so goood (in most things...)

Re: The Lost Art of Tuning

In the early days we’d all tune by ear, normally from the lead guitarist’s guitar. How he tuned was entirely by ear. It was entirely likely that we were nowhere near a440 at any time. Then we all got tuners. Trouble was they were possibly not in tune with each other (early tuners were pretty average...
