Re: Anyone want a Strat?

Well it's just an old red Fender. They're common as muck and worth bugger all, but since I'm a real sofie, I'll give you $20 (delivered free to me of course) for it to get it out of your shed.

Re: RIP Eddie Van Halen

He gave us musical pleasure and inspiration, but his time in the spotlight is now over. It happens to all of us. On the upside, each of us is now a better guitarist than he is, in the same way that I’m a better singer than Elvis is, ‘cos he don’t sing no more.

Re: Recommended me a starting album for ..

There are masterpieces and there are popular songs. Different souls prefer different aspects of both the Stones and Zep. If I was introducing anyone to both of those acts, I'd use: 40 Licks (get to know their popular side before delving deeper to find some great stuff) Led Zeppelin 2 (probably becau...

Re: Bass amps

It's all opinion of course, but to me (and I've been there, for sure) buying too small now because you don't see a future need yet, is rather like buying a Suzuki Swift now when you'll probably need a Toyota Highlander later. My advice is simple: Make a budget - triple it and buy the gruntiest amp y...

Re: Songs where Bass takes the lead

I realise that I'm so ancient that I'm irrelevant to these things, but here's just some of my fav bass work songs: Beware old fart songs ahead! I used to play them all in various bands, but now.. I just reminisce. Van Morrison https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_6r2P4W9Yog Sade https://www.youtube.com/...

Re: Love/hate for Danelectro

When I lived in Korea I bought a cheap little brand new DanoBlaster Innuendo ($180 with cool vintage Dano case, from a subway music shop) to maintain sanity. It was a real blast, with four built-in effects (Distortion, Tremolo, Chorus and Echo) so no need for an amp there, I just used powered headp...

I also was in Seoul in 2001. Arrived September 11th, to be exact.
Lol - we might have crossed flights as we came home then.

Re: Yngwie Saves Fender

I remember renting his instructional years ago. I was sitting there in front of my VHS player eager for the first exercise.. He talked a little at the start and says "I'm not a fast player".. Right. Then he plays this descending phyrigian lick at a thousand beats per min. Then says, "and now to slo...
