Re: Anyone bought strings off Ali Express?
I bought a bunch of stuff from AE but never trusted it enough to buy strings from. Best deal I found was to sign up to StewMac StewMax and get free delivery for a year and 15% off strings. Pack of 10 D’Addario’s worked out to be about $65 landed. Plus you get free shipping on everything else for a y...

Re: How to dumb down an extremely bright Strat?
Cheers for all the feedback. Time to buy myself a soldering iron and have a play around. I'll look at this problem in a positive way in that I get to experiment in simple and imaginative ways to fix this problem. I'm bit of a tinkerer so it could even be 'fun'. 100k tone pots will be my first step ...

I've been scouting out TM for one even before this issue to use elsewhere so it will definitely be in use sooner or later.crowbgood1 wrote:Or even try an eq pedal.

Re: How to dumb down an extremely bright Strat?
Tried just lowering the pup? (EDIT: was having a brainfart) If it's too bright use the tone control as well, thought you might need to rewire it so the bridge pup gets controlled too. They're quite far away at the moment, I'll try raising them up a bit to see. Normally raising pickups can give a fa...

How to dumb down an extremely bright Strat?
I need some advice on how to do this in a really cost effective way... Its a alder body, maple neck and custom shop 54's Ideas I've had: 1. Change tone caps from 0.022uf to a 0.047 or even a 0.1uf cap (its that bright) but these will have negligible effect with everything on 10 yeah? 2. Change the A...

If pickup height adjustment confuses you don't go near adjusting the individual pole pieces then

Guitar effects in series and parallel. Opinions?
So I found myself gassing on true bypass loopers and I see there are options of having some loops that have the possibility of being either series or parallel. The major benefit I can see for myself is having my delay and reverb in parallel so they cant 'hear each other'. Does anyone run theirs like...

Sure does. I play 11s for the extra fullness offered and feel. I also prefer pure nickels.

Re: Roger Waters touring again...
I didnt think it was too loud. Might be dependent on seating position. I much preferred this than western springs several years ago. The live band feel wasn't as great but god damn what a show.
