Re: Rickenbacker guitars - your experience(s)
A little late to this party. My experience? I've owned a couple of 330',s excellent guitars for rhythm didn't really do it for me for lead - most likely the fingerboard lacquer. Had a Greco copy (that was possibly better) and a 360/12 V64 which needed a neck reset so I sent it back, shame as it loo...

Re: Reverend does a Strat copy
It really looks like "Just Another Strat". I should have prefaced that by saying that I don't feel the need for what a Stratocaster does, and I'm quite tired of seeing them and the variants of the shape, so there is a certain bias in my comments. The majority of the Reverend range looks di...

Re: Epiphone Casino or Casino Coupe
20200612_055915.jpg I've got a 61 re-issue Casino. It was made in China. It's really good. Hope that helps. This is a good thing to keep in mind. While of the reissues, the Japanese and then Korean made instruments are often fantastic guitars, the Chinese made models are very good and remarkable ba...

Re: Epiphone Casino or Casino Coupe
Quite keen on one of these, in the future. Of course I will spend time with YT and Google etc but I wonder if anyone has any experience or views on one over the other. I just watched Jack Fossett's comparison on YT and I would be hard pressed to pick the difference most of the time. Maybe it will c...

Re: Rickenfaker revival
May I be an awful dissenter? I hate it. They've gone the simple route: P-Bass style body, P-Bass style pickup, expected pointy headstock. They could've made a really fun Mockenbacker but instead went for cheap and easy. It's a cool idea that could be taken way further, but I feel this was designed i...

Re: NAD x 2
I'm curious about the cabs and speakers you're using? Any ideas or plans as to what will work best for the two new amps? At this stage the Marshall & Laney sound best running through the Rimu 2x12, the ODS sounds great through the Boss Likely that the ODS will become my main 'plug in and play' ...

Re: Rickenbacker guitars - your experience(s)
I don’t want to get into “best years” arguments...but in my experience the 90’s saw a lot of good Ricks come from the factory. I have no idea as to why that might be. And Ricks are consistent on the whole. Agree The 89 I own is pretty special. So much to like about it. 89...close enough  Whel...

It wasn't till Grant introduced me to the tactile pleasures of a medium tall frets that I became fully ric-sexual.
Anyone else have an e-ric-tion?

Re: NGD: Bittersweet reunion
All I'll say is this: It's a shame that the guitar came back to you in an unexpected condition, however, you did get it back. You've got more than the bones of a guitar that you really connect with, and maybe this is a chance to bring it back together in a way that you hadn't considered before. Not ...

Should have the Marshall tomorrow, it's an all original hand wired 1973 Super Lead. Early '73 was the last year before Marshall switched to using PCB's. Comes with the original dust cover https://i.imgur.com/550XOrKl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/L09LQtKl.jpg The second one left Japan yesterday so should...

Re: Rickenbacker guitars - your experience(s)
Hi-Gains are more of a hot Rock'n'Roll single coil, and in my opinion they are unlike anything else. Ricks with HiGains are brilliant guitars for overdriven sounds and if you want the vintage Jangle you really want the Rick Toaster pickups The 5th knob on a Rick is a poorly implemented blend thing ...

Re: Rickenbacker guitars - your experience(s)
If it helps, this one is at least a thousand dollars more expensive than any equivalent Rickenbacker on TradeMe in the last couple of years. This^ If you want what seems to be a brand spanking 360, then fair play, but I think the last Ric I followed on TM was a 330 that didn't sell, and it was goin...

Re: Rickenbacker guitars - your experience(s)
I have a 2014 Ricky 330 that I picked up a couple of years ago. Certainly they have a different feel from the Fender and Gibson world, but I don't find it difficult to play at all. My other regular guitars are a Tele and a Jag and I don't feel anything odd about the transition from one to the other....

Wow, that's very cool! Thanks for sharing, although admittedly I pretty much don't understand a word. Electronics discussions and circuit diagrams have never really been my strong point.sizzlingbadger wrote: ↑Sat Jan 02, 2021 8:21 am http://www.nikplayer.com/2012/01/ac15hw ... tions.html
