Re: Greco!
I've vaguely promised myself that the pandemic is truly over when I can take a family holiday in Japan and come back from it with a nice Greco LP custom. This will be my psychological bookend to the era.

Re: Would you happily play a really cheap guitar?
Played some great shows when I was younger with a 90s Samick SG copy and later a Squier tele. It's doable at that standard of cheapness.

Re: NAD (kinda) Marshall SC20
This is what I suspected would be the case. How are you finding the Rocker 15? Without having much valve amp experience, its a bit hard to compare, however i find it quite good. usually use the dirty channel with the gain about 1-3 o'clock and use pedals to push further. I do like the bedroom/headr...

Re: NAD (kinda) Marshall SC20
On the other hand I tried an Orange Rocker 32 combo a few months back which definitely left me feeling like they ought to have spent a bit more time on it, the 2x10 configuration just didn't seem to do it justice. Mate has one of these after he sold me his rocker 15 head, and found it underwhelming...

Re: NAD (kinda) Marshall SC20
Boosts really nicely with either a RAT or Crowther Hotcake. Might have to grab an SD-1 at some stage to see how that sounds. SD-1 into a JCM800 creates an instant happy place  Not really found a boost type pedal they don't like though. Looking forward to trying one. Definitely found it to ...

My band mate has a Rocker 32, he reckons the Orange Speakers let it down slightly and...

Re: NAD (kinda) Marshall SC20
I had no idea this existed, cool amp man! Thanks - definitely recommend trying one out if your local Rockshop happens to be holding one. There's a combo version but I passed on that because I wasn't sold on the idea of the 10" speaker. Having tried this one first through a 2x12, I couldn't rea...

Re: NAD (kinda) Marshall SC20
Haha classic. Apologies for not remembering. Are you keeping the DSL-1? Haha yeah no worries. No plans on selling it for now. Hoping for an afternoon jam with an old bandmate soon and for a simple sit down with a couple guitars the portability of the DSL1 is still a winner. As I said at the time, l...

Re: NAD (kinda) Marshall SC20
Looks awesome! I had a DSL-1H for a while, which is kinda this but taken to the next level. Even at 1W it was enough to piss off the wife and neighbours. So nice being able to turn everything up and just use boost pedals, right! Oh yeah, I'm the guy who bought your DSL1 (my old man picked it up fro...

Re: NAD (kinda) Marshall SC20
Nice! It's that your home set up? What's the Orange next to it? Well, it's home setup for now due to lifestage. I used to use that Orange AD30 for live shows, practices etc. but over the last 8 or 9 years I've only had one short stint playing out. Between the home renos and then having a couple kid...

Re: NAD (kinda) Marshall SC20
Figured it's about time I lurked less & posted more, and what better time than this? Bought this amp a few days ago and I'm really pleased with it. Wanted something with the 800 sound for home use a while ago, and the 5w setting gets it done at a volume I can use without bothering neighbours or...

Re: New pedals of epicness
I found that the drive on the Hotcake played very nicely with single coil guitars I've had in the past, but with humbuckers I've really taken to it as a clean boost to an overdriven amp. It also does really well sitting in front of a RAT in a clean boost setting, tidies up the low end - but not at t...
