Re: NAD: Mesa Boogie Electra Dyne Head

Yeah, it looks as the the royal Atlantic is a more tweakable amp. Pretty impressed with the sounds out of the electradyne so far.

Re: NAD: Mesa Boogie Electra Dyne Head

How do the channels work, again? Are the knob settings shared between the two channels? And reverb is only on the clean? You can switch the reverb to be on only the clean channel, or on all channels, or out of the circuit all together. There is also a separate volume control for the clean channel o...

Yeah, I think they got that about right. The drive doesn’t quite have a Marshall mid bark, but it still sounds raucous. It might get closer with EL34s which you can put in, but I’ve stuck with the 6l6.

NAD: Mesa Boogie Electra Dyne Head

Did a quick roadie to Fielding to pick up the Electra Dyne short head that has been tempting me for ages on Trade Me. Hell of a nice geezer that was selling it and had owned it from new.I Wasn’t sure I needed it, but after plugging it in and having a wail, I think it’s a keeper. Amazing clean and be...

SE Electronics SE X1 R Ribbon mic from Andertons.
First time buying off them, arrived in under a week and around half the price with shipping included.
Wanted to try a cheap ribbon, and this one had good reviews. Sounds great on a crunchy guitar paired up with a SM57, more fullness in the bottom end.

Re: Kids Guitar advice

+1 on the squire mini's. My lad had one when he was a nipper and it was good bang for buck. Stayed in tune OK, easy to handle and good action. That and a Vox Pathfinder 10 was a good reliable rig.

Easy with a fire going like that  Funny... that is my next acoustic project. Watching him though, I feel the cold wind of uncertainty. I tried it last weekend. It's easy to play a boring simple version. It's awfully tricky to add colour. I That’s great playing. Like this version too, but not ...

Re: Cheap battery powered pedal PSU?

I went through the same thing a couple of years ago. https://www.nzguitars.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=36076. I got the USB - 9V converter off amazon I think, and had to swap the polarity too. Mine also kept shutting off, but if I connected an old Ibanez digital delay, even with it switched o...

Re: Synth Chat

My brother has a Novation Bass Station analogue bass KB, which I thought sounded cool and could do some weird and funky things as well as the Flashlight bass. Propellerheads Reason that Dharmajester mentions is great too. I still use that even though I have no idea what I'm doing.

Appropriate hair-do as well - perhaps more Iain Paice than Mitch or Buddy, but still works.

Re: Stapleton Pickups

A guy I work with has bought three Stapleton acoustics, 2 jumbos and a smaller OO or similar. They all look, sound and play amazing. The build quality is outstanding, and he rates the jumbos over his martin J40. He’s a pretty fussy dude too.
