I’ve been feeling the Jaguar a bit lately, been listening to a lot of Johnny Marr lately, it’s a pretty classy instrument.

Re: Show Us Your Guitar

I just like that I don’t hate myself the first time I ding or scratch a relic and don’t have to handle it with kid gloves! I kinda agree with that notion, a factory mint finish with one blaring scratch or ding is just annoying, I just always focus on the blemish and it bugs me. One scratch might as...

Re: Show Us Your Guitar

I have an AVRI Strat that I had hoped would gather an aged nitro finish but if anything you can just feel a thin nitro top coat floating on a poly base coat. The nitro feels good, it’s tactile and gathers scuffs but they buff out and then you have a new guitar again…which is fine, but if you want a ...

Re: MJT bodies

Looking at one of these on ebay, those who have bought them... what have you ended up paying? Dunno if I can be bothered waiting 3 months for one and this one is pretty much perfect... I’m watching this Shoreline Gold Strat body myself, I probably can’t afford it and won’t be placing a bid but I wo...

Re: What are you gassing for?

I really like the look of this, due to a booming voice in my head telling me I need a Jazzmaster. But at £950 before customs lay a beat-down and explode the budget it’s probably not an option.

Really appreciate the aged Olympic White.

Re: A question for acoustic guitar snobs

I have a 1963 LG-0 and it sounds just like that, well it would if I had 30% of the talent that guy has. But it certainly has that seasoned thud and the bright jangly highs. I agree with the ‘dry’ description, i feel like the aged wood starts to sound more ‘boxy’, if that’s even a word. The LG-0 was ...

Re: Show us your Stratocasters!

Yeah the rosewood neck was quite polarising for me to begin with, it just looked a bit strange, but now I’ve started to really appreciate it. It plays great, feels amazing, but I think you just expect to see the normal headstock. I think these came out just before the CITES ban on rosewood so Fender...

Re: Show us your Stratocasters!

Never thought I’d be a Strat guy, but they sneak up on you. Left is a 1962 AVRI and the right is a 2015 limited run American Standard that Guitar Center put out with a solid rosewood neck. Love them both but the AVRI gets the most play, the Fat 50’s in the Standard are fantastic. https://i.postimg.c...

Re: What are you gassing for?

I'm gassing all day for an AVRI Strat 62 or 64, or a TL-52 Telecaster from Japan.
If anybody has one in the back of the wardrobe please get in touch.....I'll start mowing lawns and washing cars in anticipation.

Re: Another recommend me a dirt pedal thread

Ahhhh yeah! Those are great too.

I have the Catalinbread SFT from the 'Foundation Series', so it's an Ampeg style 'Amp in a box' type deal. Also a nice option for just having a solid dirt foundation that responds like an amp when you dig in.

Re: Another recommend me a dirt pedal thread

I have the Visual Sound Jekyll and Hyde on my board and I love it, massively underrated in my opinion. Two pedals in one, TS-808 on the Jekyll side, and they say it's basically a RAT on the Hyde side. There's one on Trade Me at the moment for $99.00 Buy Now which is good value. (No affiliation) That...

Re: Gibson Les Paul Standard Faded 05

Almost purchased this guitar last year when Rob was culling the herd and looking for quick cash flow, I can't quite remember the price but it was much closer to the 2k mark from memory. It does come with some 'provenance' for being included in a Guitar Magazine issue where they showed off his collec...

Re: Let's talk about tele bridge rail pickups

I had a Tele with the Chopper T in the bridge and the Fast Track in the neck, the Chopper was awesome....lots of mid range but the guitar certainly lost the spank and twang you'd expect from a telecaster. That was fine with me as I was all about the fuzz back then but yeah.....Chopper T fan.
