The Marshall studio amps dont have any of the London power scaling circuitry in them.
They just run a low plate voltage on the power tubes and a second power supply for regular voltages on the preamp.

Re: Where to get components locally
There must be a reason they use 160v or greater. I just trawled TradeMe looking for one. No joy. They used that cap because the same cap was used in other amps Marshall were building at the time and they like simplifying their inventory. It's not for safety, sound or any other reason. Also that is ...

Re: Amp switching box
Good work - but as noted those little rotary switches cant handle the current on one pin, and a second issue is those pins don't always make stable electrical connections. Any vibration or maybe even temperature change might cause a momentary bad connection. The issue isnt so much burning out the sw...

Re: Calculating slotted port size in 2x12?
The Z best cab has a lot of low end - more than a 4x12. Couldnt hurt to make the port size adjustable - there are lots of bass reflex cab design simulators around, the principle is extending the low frequency response using a port tuned to an optimised frequency

Re: Swapping Case. Rewire Footswitch? How?
You can make a toggle switch act like a momentary one using capacitive coupling. Look up toggle to momentary switch circuits Why overcomplicate things? It would be easier just to get one of these. https://www.hotroxuk.com/media/catalog/product/cache/01e4e7eb64437ec9d9c97e3c19491fe2/p/-/p-h604.jpg y...

Only downside to jumbos is sometimes if you press the string down hard enough it can pull the note sharp
6100 is (or is close to) what Charvel uses, I like those.

Re: How to get more reverb out of this circuit?
I'd try these things which will change gain but not frequency response: 1 - Pop a 22uF cap over the cathode resistor of the recovery stage, that will quickly tell you whether more recovery gain will do the trick or if it distorts. If it does distort, but gets close to the volume you want, you can ch...

I've seen lots of 900s in use live, but it's usually a plug a pedal board into the fx return setup. Cant recall ever seeing someone use the preamp?

Re: JCM900 4102 opinions?
Come round to my place if you want to hear it for yourself. Play the 900 against a 800, 2000, Jose' and friedman and you'll be pretty clear on where it stands in the marshall tone lineup
