Re: DJW amps

You can do a lot with that circuit topology too. Plexis, JCM800, Friedman BE etc stuff, Jose mods, countless other marshall derived stuff.. all built from that same circuit base. Converting to a head would be a cool idea.

Plexi style through 6V6, sounds interesting for sure. Did this builder design his own amps or is they sort of more obscure circuits from the cookbook?
Nothing special from a circuit perspective, it's a plexi bright channel input with no bright cap and a PPIVMV.

I'm going to bring 4 or 5 modded marshall type amps. Friedman, Cameron, Jose, S.I.R type stuff.
I hope one of you guys can play hair metal.

Is the pot on the main board for biasing?
PI symmetry adjustment. The power amp is cathode biased

Re: Buying an amp from overseas-- query re: customs

If you can get hold of the AWB details that customs use then you can speed the process up. The biggest delay is them sending you a letter with the customs charges then you actioning it, then them processing the payment etc. If you have the shipping details, you can contact customs, get the invoice e...

No it'd be a 5k.
2.5k and 5k in parallel becomes 1.6k

Re: Anyone built a Zonk Machine fuzz?

If you like the sound of it and just want the gain control not to oscillate, then just add a resistor in series with the gain pot to effectively limit it's range - i.e. between the Q2 and the pot. You've tried 81ohm, try bigger: 470ohm then 1k.

Re: Single Ended Class A Tube Amps

Might want to look at an amp that can run a 12AU7 and 12BH7. Ive built a few power amps based on that and they're pretty good. The 12AU7 does 1W, and the BH7 does 5W. Just drop in the tube you want, set the bias switch to match and go. These are both push-pull designs, not SE
