Re: RIP Eddie Van Halen

Huge respect for Eddie. Never one to hog the limelight off stage. He just loved to play. Massive direction change in guitar playing technique that without him would be a very different world now. RIP brother. Image

Depends on your budget and what you want to record  theres a ton of great options out there at all price points :) I've got a budget set...

That looks so good with the cream tolex. Great job on the faceplate too. Happy to hear about the abundance of gain

I've got bad GAS

I want this https://londonpower.com/electronics/tube-effects-loop/
It's been interesting researching pros & cons of effects loops. I've now got a better understanding of what it's all about.

Re: Effects Loop in Valve Amp - Valve or Solid State Driven?

Nice one slowy. I hear what you’re saying. Solid state will always be more reliable and less likely to bite back. The difference is do you want a real girl or a blow up one where you can add real hair, add some vibration and some moans etc and it feels almost the same as the real thing. Yeah. Sold s...

Effects Loop in Valve Amp - Valve or Solid State Driven?

Other than cost difference will there really be any advantage of one over the other?

Re: Best Effects Units For Valve Amps...Go

It seems like a mod on the amp is the best answer, otherwise the loop would still be in front of the pre-amp. What type of amp do you have and what sound are you going for? The theory is that Distortion should go before modulation and delay. So if you are using distortion from your amp's pre-amp th...

Re: Best Effects Units For Valve Amps...Go

Depends what you're looking for. Hendrix et al. No fx loop. Their tone was pretty good. If you're looking for pristine time based effects, then yes a loop is a good call. But before loops were invented, dirty fx was the order of the day ;) I hear ya BG. I am influenced by more contemporary guitaris...

Re: Best Effects Units For Valve Amps...Go

It seems like a mod on the amp is the best answer, otherwise the loop would still be in front of the pre-amp. An effects loop is part of the amp, would require modifications to add one to an amp that doesn't have one already :) Do you have a pedal with an effects loop in it? or perhaps a loop pedal ...

Re: Best Effects Units For Valve Amps...Go

Forgive my noobness. There is only one input jack on my amp. Where the heck can I put in the effects loop to slot it between pre-amp and power-amp?
jeremyb wrote: Sun Aug 30, 2020 2:16 pm That's where an effects loop generally is, would be weird to do it otherwise!
