Re: Gear Quests!
I don't have anything exciting to add but used to think nothing of chucking a sickie to do a 600k round-trip to secure the next whim purchase. Always frustrated me that other blokes couldn't be arsed to drive the 90k from Christchurch to Methven. Half-arsed baaastards.

That burst is lovely. Congratulations Bg. Now do what I do. Hang it on the wall and never play it.

Re: Late 70s Strats - thoughs?
I have a couple. Aesthetically they're both nicely aged with a lovely amber on the natural finish 79 and yellow, faded white on the 72. I can't argue with most of the preceding criticisms, but have come to recognize that all guitars have their own thing. If you like it the flaws don't matter. And t...

Re: Philip Sayce joined PRS!
I like his playing. Obviously grounded in Hendrix and SRV. That said, I have lately come to feel like I've been listening to the same solo for forty years.
Re: Strats.
Played a SVL Strat the other day. Felt lovely. Just recently I played a a pre-CBS Jaguar (or was it a Jazzmaster?). Anyway, that neck felt similar in its played-inidness. Just lovely.
The SVL chap is also Pete Townsend's tech. Production halts when The Who are on tour.

Ooo. He also had a couple of Sire. The T7 Tele was fantastic. Roasted maple neck, good hardware. Sounded and played great.

Couple of impulse buys.
Bought these tonight. The seller was an older guy in his 70s. Had some lovely gear including a SVL Strat. Might be the nicest-feeling Strat I've ever played. Anyway, got another Blues Jr for no reason other than the finish... and a Soul Food for no reason other than that I don't think I've had one. ...
Re: Strats.
I could spec a Strat to very, very fine detail. It doesn't exist off the peg. You're the man to ask: I like the EJ Strats because to me, they feel like my old one (do you still have it?) How would you compare it to the EJ's you've had? Aside from the radius and fret size they're very similar. The E...

Re: NGD Gibson LP Jnr
I maintain that an LP Jr, set up well, is possibly the only guitar you'll ever need. Thankfully, we all know that's rubbish. Congrats. Really nice looking guitar. I can feel that whole thing vibrating in my hands... :shifty: I felt the same way about my first Nocaster. Still went and sold it (stupi...
