You could try to scrape the last bits off with stanley knife blade held up almost vertical, or use a very sharp chisel. Then get some yellow foodcolouring and put that on the pine dowel ends. Finish with superglue layers and then level again with a sharp chisel. And then lastly sand from 1000 grit ...

When you are putting the dowels into the holes, make sure you have the sides of the neck clamped with two clamps and 'support' pieces of timber between neck sides and clamps. Don't fill the mahogany, look at what a great finish I got on the Mahogany back of my Duovette... without filler, just sanding and oiling.

If you use pine dowels they will be softer than maple. Always use proper, fluted dowels so there is an escape part for the glue when you press or hammer them into place. Always use glue...

First videos I took with my new camera so a bit out of focus at times, apologies. Thanks to Blackstratblues for playing some awesome licks and allowing publishing on YT. P90's guitar from Mr Glynn. Bender also played it generating some lovely surfing like sounds but sadly did not get to record that....
