Re: The Op shop strat project

I would say under the paint you also have a thick layer of sealer (sometimes they use a veneer but that looks more like "plastic")....a way to test it is get a little bit of food colouring and try to apply it and it won't soak in also when you sand it it will smell a bit like fibreglass Y...

New Pickups are on there way, Going for a slightly different than normal setup. This only my second build, but going to bit Adventurous on this (I have feeling that line ...

Re: Time to freak out the strat boys

Anybody see any problems with the plan so far. 3cords Sounds like a grand experiment to me. Even if the pickups don't blend well, you should end up with 3 distinct tones. Who knows, you may like one so much that you end up with a single pup Strat. Works for Ry Cooder. Do you still have that red Rad...

Re: Time to freak out the strat boys

Ok the mini humbucker is dead. So much for that cheap option. But the project is far from done. So currently I have a basswood strat body and maple neck with rosewood fingerboard. First step strip it back to barewood. Modify The body to a bathtub pickup cavity so we can go nuts on the pickups. Spray...
