Re: The Acoustic Thread

Agreed, not a great recording but what I saw there was a mashup of a dreadnought and an archtop displaying the best parts of both.

Yes it's different; it's meant to be. I'd soooo love to play that!

It would be utterly divine for Celtic music!

Re: Jays' BBs

Billy Gibbons has got a les Paul with a hollowed out neck and body. You should try a hollowed out neck on this one 😊 Of course he does.....  Edit: Just a thought... A hollowed out Lester sounds like a carbon fibre project to me. Wouldn't that be an interesting thing....a Lester built li...

Shudder.
Don't worry Bruce. It's a refinish of a pretty old and well-worn guitar. The nitro will be sunjec to some mild-moderate abuse to match the rest of the instrument.
It was an involuntary revulsion; I'm quite better now.

Re: Nitro spraying advice

Really happy with latest outcome. Doing a headstock/body combo. Had a clusterfuck earlier in the process which has left some issues with the headstock. But sanded it to a perfect mirror polish today. The nitro is rock hard and incredibly fragile. I've attempted that on some occasions... You have my...

Experimenting with some colours. Not sure which way to go yet. Any suggestions welcome. 20250210_124413.jpg 20250210_125431.jpg 20250210_154354.jpg are you doing a burst or plain? Would a princeton or DR sound any good into a v30 4x12, or greenback 4x12? I'm Fender curious
If you're handy to Hobsonville, bring the cab over and plug it in.

Re: A Worthy Folly

Timely! We were chatting about the bridge doctor the other day :) I had a look online, saw others had made their own, and decided to try my hand at making one from some old walnut I had along with a spare T nut and bolt. Total cost is about 60c, I just hope it works. 474453864_1366715471429547_5489...

Re: The Jansen Bassman - You Experience

I've met a few Bassman 50s. You're on the right track because I think they're best used as a pedalboard engine. The inputs have different gain. If you're getting your gain from pedals, the low input will give you more control. Then again, goosing the hot channel may be your thing. While fairly commo...

A Worthy Folly

Banchetti1.jpg A worthy folly is how Grantb described my acquisition of this Banchetti dreadnaught. The bridge had rolled forward. String height and intonation were ok but the sound was weak and lacking dynamics. Some may recall I named it 'Thumper'. I don't spend much time beating on an acoustic i...

Re: MikeC Princeton Deluxe

I had the amp on loan from MikeC for a while, as you can tell I had heaps of fun playing it! The cleans were awesome as you'd expect, but the driven sounds were so satisfying. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ps10cSd3qg It didn't sound quite that good at my place. Thanks for putting it throu...

TronFest 2012 Last blues jam

It is Grant playing with someone on a 335 and man what glorious sounds he gets out of that 335 and whatever amp he is playing through.

Who is the dude, what 335 and what amp?
This fella?
