Re: Building a bias checker

Actually, bias adjustment is a bit more complicated than a simple current set, the optimum setting could be a few milliamps either way depending on the tubes and results wanted. To do this: Really needs a dummy speaker load, an oscilloscope and a sine-wive audiogenerator to examine the output at var...

Re: ACCURATE tuners!?

As I think about it, I mean any instrument with set intervals (piano, guitar etc).
A violin or fretless instrument - well you choose the exact pitch when you play the note...

Re: ACCURATE tuners!?

I'm wondering if the accuaracy of the tuner is the problem - it is impossible to get perfect tuning on any instrument. Even if you get perfect tuning at the nut and the octave, due to the intervals of the 12 notes all tuning must be a compromise anyway. It can drive you nuts. One chord is perfect, y...

Love the way this thread drifted way off topic. Hope ya'll can play as well as yer sense of humour... Hey, just to let you know, I have found my guitar player for the band. Amazing, first guy we tried, fitted right in, and the guys say he even looks a bit like the old guitar player so they won't hav...

This guy might have a genuine 1994 Strat... now re-listed... http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=99958851 BUT: Fender made hundreds maybe thousands of these standard strats in 1994. What they did make was a limited run of 1954 40th anniv strats, 0001 to 1954 all numbered, all in tobacco ...

Three chords?
If you ever get stuck playing "Just Want To Dance the Night Away" there are two chords. Period. Same two, over and over, right through the song.

Strange, people actually like that song. Not as much as "Ten Guitars" though. (Now theres a real three chorder...)

Pay? :o
Pay? Who said anything about pay?
Not me!
Seriously, of course it pays, depends on the gig.
Razzas are stingy, but Corporates and even Weddings pay OK.
Of course Mr IRD gets a share as well.

What a hoot - I'm impressed by the posts, though a lack of "real" replies in my in box is not quite so impressive. New Tui ad: Hey some really interesting 60's songs (mentioned above) to add to our repertoire. Yeah, right. OK - I admit, "10 Guitars" if someone grovels (pays) enou...

Experienced guitarist for 60's band - wanted

Looking for an excellent special player. You'll need to be versatile, able to play all sorts of stuff from 1950 to the present, with an emphasis on 60s-70s. Not a place for a young guy - you'd need to be 45-60 to fit, and vocals would be a real asset, even if just bv. The band is well established, d...

You could put an 8 ohm speaker on a 2 or 4 ohm output, you'd loose a little power, well about half, but not hugely noticeable volume wise.
Or simpler, put 2 x 8 ohm speakers on (in parallel) and voila! there's yer 4 ohms...
