The toneriders are great pickups regardless of the price IMHO. I ordered a set of the "pure vintage" and was well impressed - not just with the tone, but the construction - these are well made. I even ordered a set of the "classic blues" to try another flavour but the guy had sol...

If the $700 model you're talking about is one of the CIJ vintage re-issues then I say go for it absolutely! They're currently fetching $2000 new here in NZ. And when compared to MIA models, they're worth it. As for the quality, I would put them above MIM fenders, and in many cases on par or better t...

Yeah, I'm pretty stoked about getting one. It turns out that Dave Fox just stopped making them the same week I found this one second hand! Apparently they were a bit too labour intensive so he decided to stop making them once he reached 1000 units, which he's done. Hopefully I should have mine next ...

Just waiting to hear back from HFA, Trueman. By the looks of their site, they should be able to come up with something. I'll let you know if I don't have any luck. The pedal in question is a Foxrox Captain Coconut 2 - been wanting one of these for a loooong time! It's not due to be sent until Tuesda...

I found the HFA website, thanks Archtop Fan. I've emailed them to see what they can come up with.

Yep it's definitely AC. I've tried the surplustronics site and many others to no avail - at least not for right amp rating. Thanks for the offer stark - is that 9v 1amp supply you mentioned AC?

Power Supply question

OK, here's one for ya's: I'm buying a pedal from the states that takes 9V AC 1000mA, using a 2.5mm jack. I can't find an adapter anywhere with those specs in NZ! That includes Dick Smith models with the universal plugs...The pedal is being shipped with the US adapter so I can always get a stepdown t...

that $1200 one goes for something like $280US in the states - that's about $440NZ - and that's retail! It's frustrating to see how huge the markups are for NZ consumers.

I use a VT120 live. Far more realistic models than my Line6 flextone. I had a problem early on that turned out to be dry joints on the filter caps, but it's been going like a charm since it's been fixed...

Good point - and singers are "supposed" to be even more egocentric than guitarists!

Drummers, bassists, and rhythm guitarists aren't usually in the limelight and don’t crave it, but lead guitarists are like singers, they are in and crave the spotlight. I think it’s all down to attitude and personality. Lead guitarists have a need to show-off and get noticed; bassists and rhyth...

I've had an SSL-3 for a while now and tried it in a few different positions and I can tell they're very FAT! In the bridge it has an almost P90 vibe. In the neck i found it was lacking in top end - if you're used to that typical strat clean brightness you might have to compensate with your amp's tre...

That's pretty damn good! Did you get the "cool vintage" lil punchers? I'd be keen to hear how you find them once you got 'em installed.
